Electrical Safety Tip:
Electrical fires can be prevented! Some tips to help prevent fires in your home or business:
- Keep electrical devices away from small children
- Check for cracked, frayed or broken cords, plugs, switches and light fixtures
- Use certified power bars with surge protectors rather than overloading circuits or using extension cords
- Make the switch to LED lights. LED lights not only consume less energy, they also produce less heat which reduces the risk of fire
- When leaving your home, only keep essential items plugged in
- Keep space heaters a minimum of 3 feet away from any combustible material such as bedding, clothing, draperies, furniture and rugs. Do not use space heaters in any rooms where children may be left unsupervised. Space heaters should be plugged directly into a receptacle, avoid using an extension cord, and always remember to unplug them when not in use
